First day of filming wraps up; over a dozen talent interviewed

Saturday, August 19, 2006

Liz Rossi managed to squeeze in fifteen talent interviews before the sun set near the Iguana Grill on Friday.

The first round of talent shows a wide range of abilities, skills, and personalities. Guitarist, bassists, drummers, a cappella madmen, producers, and random south side nomads came together at the 12th street park to go face to face with the camera.

The first weekend of preliminary interviews will wrap up on Sunday. Interviews to continue through next weekend.

FAQ's

What exaclty is The Project Pittsburgh?

  • Album/Live Show/Documentary
  • The idea is to gather around 50 musicians for different bands/styles of music to come up with original material to record an album.
  • Each group of 4 to 5 people come up with 10 minutes of material.
  • Every group gets 1 month to come up with the ten minutes of music for the album (roughly three songs or two longer songs).
How are the bands assembled?
  • We're having everyone meet on the 16th of September to meet and talk with eachother.
  • After about an hour, everyone will fill out a form choosing who they want to work with.
What is the form for?
  • The form will be broken down into categories by instrument/persons name/and a ranking.
  • For instance, you talked to John Doe the bass player and think you would work well together. On the form you would write: BASS/JOHN DOE/#1.
  • At the end of the night, we collect the forms and try to match everyone with their number one picks.
  • Then after everyone is matched up, it's up to your group from there to come up with the music.
Will this be recorded in a studio?
  • Yes. The entire project consists of volunteers. Many of which have voluteered their time and studio for the project.
Where will the live show take place?
  • This will be determined after the album is recorded.
Will there be a DVD?
  • Yes. This is also a being filmed as a documentary, and after the recording will be a live show. We have interview footage of around 15 participating musicians currently.
